Sunrise Spot: Coaker's Walk
An east-facing ridge path, walkable from the town centre
Why Start Here?
Coaker's Walk faces the valley toward the plains, catching the sunrise directly without requiring a vehicle. Being walkable from most stays in the town centre makes it the most practical starting point for an early morning without a pre-dawn drive.
The open sections roughly midway along the walk offer the widest unobstructed view of the horizon. Arrive by 5:45 AM to find a spot before the light builds.
Use a tripod if possible, as light levels are low before the sun clears the horizon. A wide-angle lens captures the full valley and sky; a telephoto works well once the sun is visible for a more compressed, dramatic shot.
