Formed by the overflow of Kodaikanal's community water reservoir, Fairy Falls marks the source of the Pambar River, which later joins the Vaigai. A stone bridge sits right in front of the falls, giving one of the better photo spots in the area, and the surrounding meadows make it a popular local picnic stop, quieter than the town's more crowded waterfalls.

Safety precautions

  • Sources genuinely disagree on swimming here — some call the plunge pool safe, others note it's officially discouraged and that heavy flow can create currents strong enough to push people down; check on-site signage and current conditions rather than assuming it's always fine
  • The ground near the falls gets slippery, especially after rain

Know before you go

  • Free entry, open 9 AM–6 PM
  • Best right after monsoon, when flow is strong but the area has had a chance to dry out somewhat

Practical tips

  • The stone bridge in front of the falls is the recommended photo spot
  • Moir Point, Pine Forest, and Kodai Lake are all nearby, making it easy to combine into a fuller day
