A quiet farming village about 34 km from Kodaikanal, Mannavanur centers around a lake set in open grassland, quite different from the forested viewpoints closer to town. It's part of the Mannavanur Eco-Tourism project, which includes a government-run Sheep and Rabbit Farm nearby. Activities include coracle rides, horse riding, and walks through the surrounding meadows.
Know before you go
- The drive takes about 1.5–2 hours each way on a winding, largely secluded road with little traffic — plan your return before dark
- There are very few shops in the area, so carry your own water and snacks

- Combine the lake visit with the Sheep and Rabbit Farm nearby — both are covered in the same half-day trip
- Given the distance, this works better as a dedicated half-day excursion than a quick add-on to a town-based itinerary
